Questions
Is it a valid tax invoice?
Yes, when you’re registered for GST. It shows everything the ATO requires: the words “Tax invoice”, your name and ABN, the date, what you sold with quantities and prices, the GST, and which items are GST-free. From $1,000 it also needs the customer’s name or ABN, and it reminds you.
What if I’m not registered for GST?
Switch off “Registered for GST”. The document is then called an invoice, not a tax invoice, and no GST is added, as the ATO requires.
Is my information uploaded?
No. Everything happens in your browser. Your business details are remembered on this device only, so the next document is quicker, and you can clear them at any time.
Is this tax advice?
No. It makes the document; it doesn’t give tax advice. For anything unusual, check with your accountant or the ATO.
